Face it, if you are a smoker, you are doomed. You might as well quit now, because you will be forced to eventually. As one of the last countries in Europe, smoking is now banned in bars in .nl as well. Unsurprisingly, it went without a hitch.

For a “first world” country, certain parts of healthcare in Nederland are in a pretty sad state, especially specialized care. Also, falling ill gets you no sympathy. Most often you will be told to take a pain killer and wait it out. The first-line medical care for Nederlanders is given by huisartsen (house doctors or MDs).

Drugs are bad for you m’kaaay? That’s why they’re legal in Nederland! Well, not quite legal. Illegal, in fact. But there is something to say for this ‘gray area’ (or gedoogzone). We have a very low number of potheads, compared to other European countries for instance. Still, the scene is surrounded by some dos and don’ts.
